António Borges Correia's most recent film, André's Eyes, is screened today at Gijon International Film Festival, one of Spain's most relevant film festivals. In the past editions the festival has shown the works of filmmakers such as Abbas KiarostamiAki KaurismäkiKenneth AngerUlrich Seidl, João César Monteiro and Pedro Costa, among others. This year the director in focus is the Thai Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

André's Eyes, the first fiction film of the director best known for his documentaries, is based on real facts. The film tells the story of a family of a father of four who risks losing his paternity rights over his youngest. André, one of his children, leads the action with his anger. The filmmaker directs the characters with splendor and subtleness.

The film's world premiere was in IndieLisboa - International Independent Film Festival where it won three awards: Best Portuguese Feature, Árvore da Vida Award, and TAP Award.

André's Eyes is selected in Convergencias, a section programmed by film critics. Its first session is today, at 17:00, and tomorrow at 12:30, at Cinema Cines Centro. António Borges Correia will be present in both sessions to present his film and discuss it with the audience. The session will also have the presence of Jesús Choya Zataraín, responsible for the film blog La Llave Azul.
