José Filipe Costa
José Filipe Costa (31.01.70) has a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London. He wrote and directed several short films - "A Rua" (2008), "Chapa 23" (2006), "Domingo" (2005) and "Undo" (2004) - and the documentaries "Linha Vermelha" (2011), "Entre Muros" (2002) and "Senhorinha" (2001). His films were shown at various festivals (Viennale, Cinéma du Réel, Tartu Festival of Visual Culture, PlanetaDoc Film Festival, Dokumentarfilmwoche, Forumdoc.bh, Fidébrasil, Festival de Curtas do Rio de Janeiro, IndieLisboa, Doc Lisboa, Fantasporto, among others) and screened and broadcasted on different television channels (RTP, Futura-Brasil and ZDF-Arte). He wrote and directed the science series "Histórias da Vida na Terra" (2008). He was a visiting lecturer at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has lectured for the DocNomads, Documentary Film Directing Erasmus Mundus joint master's degree. He obtained his undergraduate and master's degrees in Communication Science at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is the author of the book “Power to the cinema!” (2002).
