The Factory of Nothing and Barbs, Wastelands in the Directors Fortnight of Cannes 2017 [25/05/2017]

Pedro Pinho and Marta Mateus are world premiering their films in the Cannes Directors' Fortnight, respectively The Nothing Factory, and Barbs, Wastelands.

The Nothing Factory, Pedro Pinho's first fiction feature film, deals with the financial crisis and human work through the fictionalization of a process of collective dismissal of the workers of an elevator factory. Produced by Terratreme Filmes, the film has its screenings on May 25th and 26th.

Barbs, Wastelands, the first short film by Marta Mateus, establishes its narrative in an Alentejo of memories before and after the Carnation Revolution, giving a present voice to an ancient struggle. Produced by CRIM, the short has its screenings on May 26th and 27th.

The Directors' Fortnight is a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival, organized by the French Directors' Guild, created with the aim of contributing to the discovery of films and independent filmmakers.

Portugal Film is in Cannes to follow the world premiere of both films.
