Catarina Vasconcelos is a Portuguese director who has been attracting the attention of the cinema world since her debut as a director with the short film “Metáfora ou a Tristeza Virada do Avesso”, which won the best short film award at the Réel film festival in 2014. With his first feature film The Metamorphosis of Birds, it was no different. With its premiere at the Berlin Festival in 2020, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize for best film.

The Metamorphosis of Birds was considered "the Portuguese film with the most presences at festivals around the world and the most awarded", having been recognized, in particular, with distinctions from audiences in several countries, also from critics and with awards for best film, best documentary and best director, with 25 international awards, or shown at the San Sebastian Film Festival where it received the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera award for Best Film, among many others in screenings at more than 60 top festivals around the world.

A very delicate film in the choice of shots and image composition, and insightful in the construction of its text. Considered a film poetry or film poetry. Title understood not only by the distinction of telling her family's story from a spiritual perspective, but also by Catarina's academic and theoretical career, which spanned studies in Fine Arts and studies in visual anthropology and which can integrate the integral intention very well to this story.
