Journey to the Sun (Kintop) by Ansgar Schaefer and Susana de Sousa Dias went to the Sevilla Film Festival and won a prize. The festival took place between the 4th and 12th of November 2022 and its focuses was on broadcasting European-produced films. In addition, the festival has twelve award sections, including “Nuevas Olas” (New Vacancies), which Journey to the Sun won as Best Non-Fiction Film. This section is dedicated to more “radical and inventive” films.

Journey to the Sun is a film that is remarkable in its content and inventive in its expression. It tells stories of Austrian children, now adults, who had to migrate from Austria to Portugal during the Second World War. During the journey and arrival, numerous traumatic situations are portrayed due to the extreme situation to which the children, alone, were subjected.
