Portugal Film in the programme of IndieLisboa [05/15/2017]

Three feature films and five shorts from Portugal Film's catalog, a total of eight films, were part of the 14th IndieLisboa in its competitive and non-competitive sections.

Colo, by Teresa Villaverde, had its national premiere as the opening film of the festival, having had its world premiere in February in the competition of Berlinale. 

Amor Amor, the second feature by Jorge Cramez, had its world premiere in IndieLisboa, integrating the national and international competition of the festival.

Luz Obscura, by Susana de Sousa Dias, was part of the festival's national competition, thus reaching the Portuguese public for the first time after being part of the international competitions of Cinéma du Réel in Paris, where it had its world debut, and DocumentaMadrid, where it was awarded a Special Jury Mention.

Flores, the fourth short film by Jorge Jácome, had its world premiere at IndieLisboa in the national and international competitions, and was awarded the FCSH/NOVA New Talent Award – Short Film by the jury of the national competition. Antoine Barraud, Maike Mia Höhne and Paulo Bertolín wrote: “A sensuous and ironic reminder of the potential of cinema as a language beyond sheer narration. (…) This is a breathtaking use of the power of cinema.”

Nyo Vweta Nafta, by Ico Costa, debuted in Portugal in the national and international competitions, after its world premiere in competition in Rotterdam in January and the award for best international short film at Cinéma du Réel in March.

The Case of J., by José Filipe Costa, the director's first film since the Linha Vermelha in 2011, made its world debut in the national short film competition. 

Beyond the Mountains, the second short by Miguel Moraes Cabral, also had its world premiere in the national competition of IndieLisboa.

The Night Shift, the third short film directed by the young director Hugo Pedro, had its world premiere in the national and international competitions.

Portugal Film thus had eight national premieres, five of them world ones.
