The Hissing of Summer Sands, by Catarina Mourão, was selected at IDFA - International Documentary Film Festival, one of the most important documentary film festivals in the world, which takes place in Amsterdam from 20 November to 1 December.

It is the first time that Portugal Film is represented at this important festival and it is also the fair recognition for a film that had its international premiere at the Visions du Réel - International Festival of Cinéma Nyon, in Switzerland, having later passed by the Oberhausen festival, in Germany; It's All True, in Brazil; IndieLisboa, where he received a special mention from the National Competition jury; Moscow International Experimental Film Festival, Russia; among others.

The film tells in 15 minutes the story of “The whistle man”, a character who roamed the Portuguese beaches during the Fascist Portugal, and who lived on the charity of bathers. With white beards and black or white suits, he attracted children with the whistle he carried around his neck and told them stories. From several family films, Catarina Mourão, builds a fictional portrait of this mysterious character, through which she explores the sensorial space of the beach.
