Laura Carreira

Laura Carreira (born in Porto, 1994) is a Portuguese filmmaker based in Scotland.
She completed an Audiovisual Communication Degree at the António Arroio School of Arts in Lisbon and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Film Directing at the University of Edinburgh.
Her first film 'Red Hill' was selected for various film festivals internationally and considered one of the best seven films at the 2019 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival by the International Film Magazine Sight & Sound.
The film was awarded the New Visions Award at the 73rd Edinburgh International Film Festival, nominated for the 2019 BAFTA Scotland Awards as 'Best Short Film' and longlisted for the 2019 BIFA Awards.
Laura was selected for the 2019 BellRock Writing Residency to develop her first feature-length original screenplay and took part in the BellRock Director's Workshop run by Gyula Gazdag.
